Posted 2017-09-18 at 21:20

The O'Reilly Auto Parts Granite State Mini Sprint Club concluded their season Saturday night, September 16th at the Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford VT with a strong field of cars in both the 500cc and 600cc divisions.

The 500cc Main event got the features started Saturday night and when the green flag dropped the #42 of Ryan Farwell claimed the lead from his fourth starting spot before the first lap was complete. While Farwell was holding the lead Matt Calley in his #17 was headed to the front after starting seventh. Calley worked over the #42 of Farwell for a couple of laps before taking the lead on lap seven. The caution flew a lap later for the #13 of Terry Balla, who had troubles in turn three. When racing resumed Calley led another lap before the #54 of Will Pinkham Jr took the top spot. While the battle up front was entertaining Riley Chaffee was in stealth mode working his way to the front from the 14th starting spot. The #51 of Chaffee claimed third on lap fourteen, moved to second on lap fifteen and blasted into the lead on lap sixteen, bringing the #60 of Kyle Pittman with him to second. Just a lap later the second and last caution of the event flew for the #46 of Tyler Vickery, who coasted to a stop on the backstretch. The green flew with just three laps remaining and Riley Chaffee went on to take the win. Will Pinkham Jr got back by Kyle Pittman to take second with Pittman third. Early race leaders Matt Calley and Ryan Farwell completed the top five.

The 600cc Main Event started with a bang as with one lap complete the #98 of Andy Badger and the #20 of Tony Shaw were involved in an incident at the top of turn one that saw the red flag fly when Badger ended up on his side. When racing resumed it was the #10 of Kevin Heath that got to the front quickly and built a huge lead over the #17 of Tyler Jones. At the halfway point the #7 of Drew Eldridge claimed second and slowly began to reel in leader Heath. When the #15 of Kyle Belliveau took over second with just a handful of laps remaining after starting last on the grid he rapidly began catching the #10 of Heath, who was encountering lapped traffic. Belliveau arrived on Heath’s back bumper after the white flag flew but couldn’t get by the high flying Kevin Heath, who took the win. Kyle Belliveau finished a close second. Drew Eldridge in the #7 was third with Tyler Jones fourth and the #00 of Bradley Osgood fifth.

Heat Race winners in the 500cc Class were the #46 of Tyler Vickery and the #13 of Terry Balla. Kevin Heath won the lone 600cc Heat.
