GRSMSRC Board Meeting 11/19/17

Posted 2017-12-03 at 15:50

Mike called the meeting to order at 10:07am

Robb Leonard of Robb's Racing Engines attended and answered some motor questions for the board. He also make some suggestions for changes. Robb stated that the 400ex is a good choice to run with the 500's. The cost of parts is reasonable, and there is a large amount of aftermarket parts available. It can be run as is off the bike with easy bolt in and go. He suggested that the weight difference between the 500 flat top and dome pistons should be changed to be the same. He can build a motor within the rules to run faster than one with a dome top piston. He also suggested that the 400 rules be the same as the 500's. With the restrictions on the motors he said that both aftermarket and programmable CDI boxes do little to change performance. Robb also said that boring the 500's to 60 or 80 over give little enhancement, but will bring more cylinders back into the mix. Troy asked about titanium values and what kind of enhancement they would give. Robb stated it would give a minimal enhancement. Nickel plating the cylinders was also asked about. Robb said that it would take away the heat and create less friction giving the motor some longevity, and that it is not an issue enhancement wise. Robb suggested possibly adding the XR400 engine to the 400's. He stated it is the same as the 400ex from the cases up. It is a little less common but still out there. He also suggested removing the 250 engines, the 400ex pairs well with the 500.

Robb is willing to do tear downs for the club. Possibly do some measurements at the track and then send to his shop for complete tear down. Waiting for a cost to the club per tear down.

Troy made a motion to have Robb give the board his suggestions for wording of the engine rules. All board members agreed. Robb and Troy will be getting together to go over this before the next board meeting.

At 11:13am the board took a short break.

Meeting resumed @ 11:30am

Mike received about a car show. New England Racing and Auction (?).The show is December 2nd. It is $150 for a one car spot. It is a one day show in Springfield Mass.
